Salvavidas International™ (or Lifeguards Without Borders™) is made up of a group of young, ambitious medical students who all share roots here at the ARCVLSC. Over the past several years, the group has undertaken the courageous and admirable mission of teaching water safety in places where this type of education is otherwise unavailable yet very much needed. The efforts of these young men and women, in the spirit of the ARCVLSC, are entirely volunteer based.
A very helpful resource at redcross.org on water safety preparedness. Here, you can get information on courses designed to educate the public in matters of swimming and lifeguarding.
The local North East Florida Chapter offers swimming instruction for a range of skill levels. The multiple courses are appropriate for children at least 6 years old as well as adults.
…where you will find miles of uncrowded white sandy beaches, is located east of Jacksonville, Florida, between the Atlantic Ocean and the Intra-Coastal Waterway. Jacksonville Beach is a business, resort, & residential community offering oceanfront hotels, great dining, shopping from antiques to art galleries, an eighteen-hole municipal golf course, family entertainment, festivals, concerts and much more.
The Corps has adopted the use of a flag system come up with by the Florida Department of Environmental protection and encourages all bathers to be aware of their significance.
Donations are needed by the Lifesaving Corps to supplement the funding provided by the American Red Cross and the City of Jacksonville Beach, in order to provide training to our members, support our outreach programs, and maintain our facility at #2 Oceanfront.
Our members are re-certified every year in lifesaving, first aid, cpr, and are given other specialized training such as emergency driving, personal development, and leadership. We provide classes for the public such as cpr, first aid, and beach safety. Our international committee travels out of the country to train other lifeguards. The building at #2 Oceanfront was completed in 1947, and needs constant attention due to heavy use and oceanfront conditions.
Currently, our #1 project is to build an addition to the north side of the building for meetings and training.
Please donate generously and help the Lifesaving Corps continue to fulfill its mission of saving lives and education.
